The Sci-Fi Experience

Carl, from Stainless Steel Droppings, is hosting The Sci-Fi Experience 2008. It's not a Challenge, per se. It's an "Experience". But if any of you are familar with Carl's Challenges, they are all EXPERIENCES!!

No amount of books has to be read. It runs from January 1st until the end of February and there is even a site for book reviews. It's just a chance to delve into the sci-fi genre. For me, this is a chance to read some books that have been sitting around my house for far too long!! Sci-Fi is a fairly new genre for me. And one that I have grown to love!! I don't have a set reading list. We'll just see where the months take me!!

I don't read much Sci-Fi either but I am sure I can dig something out for this.

I'm not too wild about Sci-fi myself

I am so glad you're joining it. It should be quite fun. I am having such a dilemma choosing what to read next as I have so many science fiction books piled up that I want to read.

I don't know if I will be able to join in, but I love the idea! I don't read much in the way of science fiction, but I do like the genre. At least the little I've read of it. :-)

This is pretty new stuff to me, too. But I'm definitely looking forward to it! Can't wait to see your reviews!

I haven't read any Sci-fi at all for the last 10 or more years, but I have joined in for the Experience!

Wait...I saw someone classify Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro as sci-fi and I read that a couple of years ago, but I would never have thought to call that book SF!

I used to think I can never get into Sci fi...then i was reading Matthew Reilly and now I'm a fan of it. He writes really great books.

--big smile-- I like to think that I can take the credit (blame?) for introducing you to sci-fi, Stephanie. Great idea here. How about Cities in Flight? Are you still up for it in February?

I've moved one of my planned sci-fi re-read ("Cyteen" by C.J. Cherryh) to January 2008 because of the "Sci-Fi Experience". I suspect I will not be reading many titles though. Just one big book read slowly and more carefully.

So like you, I have no planned reading list, though I admit I'm something of a list-a-holic!

SF is a genre I've been neglecting these past few years. Nice to throw a few more SF titles into my reading for 2008.
