I just got my New Computer....

On the off-chance you've been wondering what happened to me, I have been trying to get up and running on my new computer!! It's so nice...and fast! My other computer was about 6 years old. As you know, in these days of technology, it was a dinosaur. But this one is great. I'm not one for a laptop....since it's used by everyone, so a nice pc was what we went with. And a super 19" wide screen. Man...I'm loving it! BUT I'm still trying to get everything re-loaded to it. And although I had a recovery done from my old computer, I'm still trying to find a lot of my old files. Oh well....I'll find them eventually!

As for reading, I'm knee-deep in A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. I'm reading it for the Canadian Challenge, and it really is fantastic, although it's 600 pages. It really took me awhile to get into it...but now, I just can't read fast enough. I also just started Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah. Not too sure what to think about it yet.

In other book news, while doing some blog hopping this morning, I found that The Pager Flipper is holding a Giveaway for March. 6 Books!! Now that's pretty cool. All you have to do is email Chelsea and let her know you want to be included. You should check out her blog. It's great! A new one to add to the blogroll!
Have a Happy Sunday!!

Congratulations on the new computer. I still like mine but it is running pretty slow these days. It may be time to upgrade for me as well.

Yay for the new computer! Mine is about 5 years old and I've started backing up all of my files because I'm convinced it is going to crash any day now. I really want a new computer but don't want to shell out for it! Oh well.

Congratulations on getting a new computer! It's fun to play with new ones, isn't it?

I am anxious to know what your final impressions will be of A Fine Balance.

Have a good week, Stephanie.

Tanabata - That's how my problems started. Running slow. Then I had problems getting on certain pages. The final straw was my disk drive stopped. When I couldn't burn cd's, I knew it was time to do something!!

Trish - That's funny. I think I'm lucky mine didn't go down completely. I would have hated to lose all my stuff!

Nicola - Yes they are! I've been having a great time this morning playing around.

Wendy - Yes, it's fun! You know, when I started A Fine Balance, it seemed the first 100 pages took me forever. It was interesting, but yet I felt sort of detatched from the story. Now that I'm closing in on 450 pages, I just can't wait to see how it ends (although I have a fear it might not be such a happy ending)

Debi - It's been so long since I've had a new toy, I'm having a blast messing around with it!

The next computer we're getting is a laptop. I can't wait to be able to write up my posts on books and movies somewhere other than sitting at the desk!

A new computer, how exciting! Good look finding those old files and getting everything installed - I know that can be a pain. But once everything is done, what fun!

congrats on the new computer! The ONLY thing i hate about a new computer is Vista! So I hope my PC holds up until they've gotten all the fixes in vista.. I really wish that they didn't make it so we had no choice.. xp has been great and I am willing to keep it as long as possible.

I'm pretty good at backing my stuff up on cds each month..so hopefully when this computer gives out I won't loose much of anything

Yay for the new computer! Looks pretty cool and isn't a large monitor great? I use a MacBook but have a large monitor I hook it up at when I'm at home. It's so much nicer on the eyes.
Enjoy it!

At least you got the new computer before the old one had gasped its last breath and lost all of your files.

I look forward to hearing what you have to think about Firefly Lane. I liked some parts, would have liked more out of some parts of the book.

Congrats on the new computer! I love getting new gadgets. I've been wanting a laptop for some time now, especially since I've seen the new MacBook Air -- it's so thin and light!! I know DH has been paying attention to my comments, so maybe I'll be getting one for my birthday:)

That is a nice computer. I got a new one a little over a year ago, it was fast, not it's starting to slow down abit... and I find that usually happens about a year after you get a new one. I usually get a new one every two years or so just to keep up to the technology, it also depends on if anyone will buy my old one. :)

Congrats on the gorgeous new computer! Enjoy burning up the net.

As for A Fine Balance, I've had it on my TBR for far too long. Everyone talks about how great it is, but I haven't been able to bring myself to read it yet. I think it's the size that scares me.
