A Terrible Loss.....

I was stunned and incredibly saddened this morning to learn that one of the most energetic, sweetest, and original bloggers in the blog-o-sphere has passed away. I learned this morning that Dewey of The Hidden Side of a Leaf died Tuesday evening. She was such a creative person, hosting not only the 24 Hour Read-a-Thons, but also the Weekly Geeks. Dewey also had such a positive spin on things, a love for reading that held no bounds, and a such a friendly demeanor that everyone loved her. I can not imagine how the Book Blogging Community is going to recover from this loss.

I have no words to express myself…

"Stunned" is the word how how I feel too. I just can't believe it. Things just won't be the same without her :(

Like Nymeth, I was stunned when I read that too! I almost couldn't make sense of it at first. It's so very sad. :(

It's funny how much a part of a "community" I feel like I'm in here. I never actually met Dewey, and yet I feel such a sense of loss. I know my prayers are definitely out there for her family right now.

Stunned is certainly the way to put it. I could hardly believe it when I read it. I am so sorry for everyone's loss, most especially her husband and child. She will certainly be missed as she was an amazing, inspirational blogger.

Stephanie, you expressed yourself well! I am still in shock and have been spending the evening going from blog to blog reading all of the tributes. Dewey will be greatly missed.

You said it very well for all of us, thank you. It's such a shock...it doesn't seem real yet! We will all miss her terribly. Hugs to you.

Couldn't have said it better, Stephanie. I think it'll take a good long time to recover from this.

I was thinking that it might be nice for those bloggers who are Weekly Geeks to pay tribute to Dewey in the next week or so. To take the time to post to their blogs a "Weekly Geek" post about Dewey--maybe share their favorite posts from her site, maybe share a memory or two about participating in weekly geeks, the bookworms carnival, the 24 Hour Readathon, or one of Dewey's challenges, maybe just share a favorite memory of Dewey in general, what they'll miss most, how they'll remember her, etc. I'm going to try to post mine this Saturday--but bloggers anywhere and everywhere are encouraged to post whenever they want.

If you're interested please SPREAD the word to all your blogging friends.

Note: You wouldn't have to have been an 'official' weekly geek to join in on this. New participants joined on a weekly basis. There was always room for more then...and now.
