Booking Through Thursday - Dessert First?

1. Do you cheat and peek ahead at the end of your books? Or do you resolutely read in sequence, as the author intended?

2. And, if you don’t peek, do you ever feel tempted?

NO!! And I'm pretty weird about this too. I seem to be less and less organized as the years go by, but when it comes to reading, I appear to be going in the opposite direction: quite obsessive and anal! I can't read a series book out of order. I'm actually almost to the point that I don't even read books out of published order for an author, even if they aren't in a series. And I certainly never, EVER read the ending before it's time!! It would completely spoil the entire book for me. Is that weird? I very rarely ever start a book that I don't finish. But even in those rare occasions I don't even skip ahead to the end of the book. If I am interested enough in finding out the ending, I'll keep reading! And you know what? I really don't think I'm ever tempted to do it either.

Now, I have to go find something to eat. That picture is making me hungry! Couldn't pass it up though with the title of this meme!

Later!

I never peek at the end of books either. I'm not even tempted, which is weird because I'm the type of person who actively goes in search of spoilers for my favorite tv shows. I knew how the season finales of 'Lost' and 'Heroes' were going to go and that's the way I prefer it. But not books.

Great answer Stephanie! I couldn't agree more - I read for the escape and it would totally spoil it if I knew how things were going to turn out. I mean, why even read the book if you know how it's going to end?! :)

And please do not think you're alone on the series book thing. I absolutely will not read them out of order. My husband calls me "Mrs Monk" on things like that :)

Happy Reading!

Yum! I love this picture! I don't read many series, but like you those I do read have to be read in order.

I'm not a peeker either. I don't read series books out of order either and I'm a big fan of series/trilogy books :)

Thanks for visiting my blog, have a good day!

So far, I'm the only peeker in the bunch! Yikes! But I have a good reason... I wrote about it here. Happy BTT!

I do the same as you about reading a series in order. I also try to read books in published order where I can. I occassionally peek but not often though *naughty me*

Well...it depends on the series and if the book can stand alone or not. The only book in Cormac's Border Triology I've read is The Crossing. All the Pretty Horses is on my TBR, but I don't know if I'll get to it this year. But I would never read Harry Potter out of order!

I read whatever book by an author I can get my hands on--usually pretty scattered.

And I never look at the end of the book. I have read some books that are so good that I've actually had to cover the bottom half of the page with my hand so my eyes don't wander to accidentally find out what happens: Time Traveler's Wife, The Pact, My Sister's Keeper, Blind Assassin just to name a few.

I never ever peak. If there's something I can't stand, it's spoilers - in books, in movies, in everything.

I used to do something, though - see what the very last word in the book was. But I stopped when I realized that in some books that gave too much away.

I read series in order too - like you, I'm quite obsessive about it.

I definitely think it is a mortal sin to peek at the end of books. It makes me angry when people do this, lol.

Well, I'm in the minority, but I'm a peeker and proud of it. LOL. I don't peek every time.

Great answers, Stephanie! And I like the picture. :P

I would never have thought of it that way. Peeking to see if a book is going to be as much of a bummer as I suspect has sometimes, in my opinion, saved me from wasting my time. This is really an interesting BTT question - such varied answers!

I do not peek either, Stephanie. When I don't finish a book, it's usually because I don't care how it ends and so what's the point?

Although I am not anal about reading an author's book in order of how he or she published them, I do find myself falling into that pattern now and then, regardless of whether it's a series or not.

Hey Stephanie, thanks for popping by my blog. Great answers. I have this thing about trilogy. If the book I bought is part of a trilogy, I'll get them all. I many not like the story but I just had to. Weird. Happy BTT!

That picture is scrumptious! I'm with you on reading a series in order, I'm pretty anal about that. I don't worry too much about reading an author's books in order of being published though. Interesting all our little quirks/obsessions.

So glad to discover your fabulous blog. I am so impressed with your reading Anne Bronte, among other things. I don't peek either. I think I made a habit of it at one point, but it invariably led to changing books midstream. Now, I know better. Julia of Only My Dreams
