Yes We Can

Today is Super Tuesday for many of us, here in the US. And I, for one, am extremely excited. For the first time, in 8 long years, I see a light at the end of a very black tunnel. I'm tired of my Constitutional Rights being tramped on by a select few who think they have that right. Politics is an extremely polarizing topic. And I don't plan on jumping on my soapbox. Because, if I did, this post might never end!! Let's just say, I'm VERY political in nature and I have a lot of very strong opinions.

Right now it's our chance to let our voices be heard. It's time to make a stand. This country needs change. So, please get out there and vote.

Stephen King, my very favorite author...as you ALL know.....wrote an article in EW about the presidential campaign. He is a bit concerned about how "pop" the election is becoming. Personally, I think it's a good thing. It's about time people take an interest in the way this country is being run. Today, when I went to vote, I was so proud to see that the election officials at my precinct were young. College kids. Even some high school kids were there. To me that says something. As a Generation X'er, I have lived through decades of apathy from the masses. (Man...I said I wasn't going to get on a soap box. Damn)

Finally, I want to leave you with this:

I guess this shows you where my feelings are!

wow, what a great video! I had chills. I think it's a shame that the dems have two really good, and ground breaking, candidates. Both will be great.
Although I really don't need to be sticking my nose in, being Canadian. We get all the coverage of the election, and I watch Jon Stewart, so I know a bit of what is going on. Go Stephanie, have fun in your election.

How are you liking A Fine Balance? It wasn't until I finished it, and then kept thinking about it, that it made 'one of my favorite books' status.

Raidergirl - You can stick your nose in all you want!! But you are right....the video is AWESOME!!

I don't think I've gotten far enough in to A Fine Balance to really know yet. So far, so good!

Pop election or not, I say open the voting to the phone lines. It's a little embarassing that American Idol (and Canadian Idol) gets more votes than federal elections.

I have been glued to CNN during all of the primaries! As you know, I live in Canada and have duel citizenship. Whenever I tell people that I am American, I have felt shame. Not for the USA and her people, but for our politics.

Obama makes me feel proud to be American again!

Yes I will vote!

YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN!

PS; This is Teddy weeping from the video, which I am promptly going to put on my blog!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that video!!!! Every time that man talks he sends shivers down my spine and puts tears in my eyes. I'm in D.C. here where they are very pro-Obama. Just yesterday, there was a group of people standing at four corners of a busy intersection holding Obama signs and cheering. People were going by and cheering or honking their horns. I've never seen so many people so excited about an election, which I find very telling. It was great. I'm giving you a heads up now - I'm stealing this video. : )

I'm not big on politics but oh what a great video!!! So many familiar faces with a wonderful message, no matter who you vote for.
