I just finished Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. I will probably be posting a review tomorrow. I need time to let this one sink in a bit. As with most of Picoult's books, this one definitely gives you something to think about. It's about a school shooting, reminiscent of Columbine. Having kids of my own, it's hard to think about things like this. And yet, I read it anyway!! Picoult's writing always sucks me in!!
Bookfool tagged me for a short meme. Since I'm tired of house cleaning and laundry, I figured this would be a lot more fun!! You simply have to grab the book nearest to you (no cheating here), turn to page 161, and post the text of the fifth full sentence on the page along with the body of the instruction on your blog. Then you tag 3 people. Not bad. Since the nearest book to me just happens to be Nineteen Minutes, that's the one you get!!
You can feel people staring; it's like the heat that rises from the pavement during the summer, like a poker in the small of your back.
Yeah...that's how the book goes!! Not a bad quote, not at all!! Tag 3 people?? OK. How about:
Matt at A Variety of Words
Wendy, the Literary Feline at Musings of a Bookish Kitty
Well...I guess this means I have to get back to work. I had such a bad week last week, I really was hoping for a day to decompress. Yesterday we went to see Shrek 3 with the girls. Fun movie. I'm having some horrible times at work right now. The next two months will be spent trying to find another position. I think that will make me a lot happier. Oh well......
Later!!

What if we're reading a book with less than 161 pages? :) Which is about my speed right now, as I try to wrap up the school year. I'll be thinking of you in your job search. And laundry sorting, like me.
I love Picoult, too! She is one of my favorites...I can't wait to read Nineteen Minutes..I am looking forward to your review!!!!
And my Meme is coming right up :0)
I like that. Summer heat like a poker in your back. She's obviously been to Nebraska in August! :)
I am a fan of Jodi Picoult's also. I have only read four of her books so far though. I hope to get to Nineteen Minutes sometime next year along with a couple of the author's other books.
Thank you for the tag! I will post my meme shortly. Thanks!
Bellezza -- I haven't read such a short book in so long, I don't know what to tell you!! Thanks though, for the good wishes on the job hunt. I'm going to need it!!
Kim -- thanks for playing along!! This is probably the 6th book by Picoult that I've read. I've loved them all except for the last one....The Tenth Circle. Really hated that, for some reason.
Kookie -- I don't know about Nebraska, but definitely Illinois!!
Literary Feline -- Sorry I didn't get over to your blog soon enough to let you know!! My bad! I really liked Nineteen Minutes. My favorite is probably Plain Truth or My Sister's Keeper though. Then this one!
That's okay, Stephanie. I didn't even think about it. I just saw my name on your blog as having been tagged and went from there. :-)
Hey, that was a pretty good quote! I'm not a Picoult fan, but I haven't given up on her. I've apparently read the two least-recommended of her titles.
And, thanks for participating!
